Reminiscences

That innocent captivating smile…
Those clear sincere eyes…
That gentle soothing voice…
That warm affectionate touch..

Those cute annoying habits…
That midnight disturbing call…
That taking away troubles…
That mysterious vanishing act…

Those lonely restless days…
That haunting deafening silence…
Those crooked mocking smiles…
That deep unfazed assurance…

Those memories… those moments…
Those memories… those moments…

While you were blogging…

Had been contemplating penning down the numerous thoughts that were somersaulting in my mind for quite some time but sadly none of them seemed to take shape in the form of words. Many occasions came and went by, many events occurred that deserved a mention and A Jr as usual gave me countless memories that deserved to be noted down. Let me breeze through them..

Having someone else’s credit card with no limit as to spending is any girl’s dream! I got a taste of it when my brother handed over his creadit card to me and asked me to buy any Rakhi and birthday gift of my choice. God bless him! I got a Lavie purse and a new stretch pair of jeans for myself while A Jr bought a cute black shirt for himself. 🙂 🙂

A Jr turned 4 this August, and boy did he do it in style! His exams were on, and his birthday fell on Thursday. My parents came over especially for his birthday. Friday was a holiday for Janmashtami, which was when I decided to celebrate it with his bunch of friends. I’d chosen red-and-black combination theme for the party. The decorations looked too lovely on the wall and I still haven’t removed some of them. Tug of war and other interesting games kept the kids entertained and they got a cute cartoon mug as a souvenir. Last but not the least the one thing that made A Jr a happy happy boy was his Chota Bheem and Krishna Cake which tasted as good as it looked! 😀

The second round of celebrations continued on Saturday when a get-together of sorts involving our friends and close relatives was planned. It was great catching up with the near and dear ones whom we don’t get to meet very often. We made Chola Bhatura and the biryani that I ordered in from Star Biryani too had everyone licking their fingers. Many people had never met before but it hardly seemed an issue. Everyone gelled beautifully 🙂

Finally, on Sunday my bro-in-law, his wife and 2 yr old son, lets call him A Jr II (what’s with the A’s in our family!?) who had come from Pune stayed back with us and we had an awesome time soaking in Mumbai! We went to Siddhivinayak temple, Marine Drive and the Gateway of India. The kids were treated to their first ever Boating ride, which they made memorable by losing their balloons in the ocean wind and then creating a havoc in the ship over it! 😛 😦 😀

So there…three-day birthday celebrations for A Jr! He obviously enjoyed beyond measure and got loads of gifts, most of which were, not surprisingly, unwrapped and opened then and there. His excitement had to be seen to be believed. I’d love to remind him when he’s older that how indulgent and pampering parents we were and how adorably accepting and fun kid he was.

His first-ever exams were more trying for me than him. He did well and then came the first-ever Open House Day And Result Day. In the Open House his teacher showed me his answer sheets and I was more or less content with what I saw. He’d made the mistakes I anticipated and had fared well where I hadn’t expected. The result though was a surprise. Cumulative marks for Oral and written exams brought his aggregate to 97%! Gross choice of dialogue here, but that day, My chest had become blouse 😛 😛

Ever since A Jr arrived my birthday (which also falls in August) has been overshadowed big time, not that I’m complaining. This year though I didn’t get to celebrate on that day, it was even better, since on my birthday we left for my native.Early in the morning I got beautiful flowers too! 🙂

I’m very goofy when it comes to understanding religious months and occasions, save the important ones, and need to be informed accordingly. There’s apparently an Adhik Mass when a mother treats her daughter, son-in-law and their kids with new clothes and loads of other goodies. Chiefly for this purpose my Mom invited us over and again we had some great family time, and yes, I got an extended birthday weekend too! 😀

Have to admit that A made sure I got my personal treat in Mumbai too. He took us out on a lovely dinner date where I had a good time over some good food. 🙂

I’m very proud to share with you something that a mother never gets enough of. A Jr had a Bouquet-making competition in his school which I wasn’t very keen on getting him enrolled for initially. When he showed certain inclination towards it I took him over to a bouquet maker, chose a not-too-complicated-to-make-but-looks-good bouquet and asked A Jr to pick up the flowers of his choice. The tasteful boy chose all available shades of gerbera and red carnations and roses. I gave him a brief demo of it at home and instructed once on what went where. To cut a long story short, he abided by every word I said and made a first prize winning bouquet all by himself! Here’s his creation. 🙂 🙂

Work of a Budding Artist 🙂

The endless treats and great-lovely-awesome time has left me a few dreaded kgs heavier, and I’m complaining a bit about it (since now I’ll have to slog overtime to get back to shape). 😛 My exam is in December and my studying hasn’t begun full-fledged as yet, though I try to keep in touch. This does deserve more attention from me and I’m working on it.

Whoa! This probably is my longest post till date! If you’re still reading this, thank you! 🙂
